History

and Facts

Stage - 1 (1979-1985)

1979-1985: Stage-1 Land Rover, leaf-sprung LWB (109"), 3.5L V8, LT95 4-speed full-time 4WD; also an Australian version powered by the Isuzu 3.9L 4BD1 4-cyl diesel.

The LandRover stage-1 is so-called because it was the result of stage-1 of a major investment plan at Land Rover, which eventually led to the 90 - 110, later `Defender' range.

The stage-1 is a Series III leaf-sprung 109" LandRover with the 3.5-litre petrol V8 and 4-speed full-time 4WD transmission out of the early Range Rover and 101.
